Crisis loans are only available for people living in Northern Ireland. Crisis loans are no longer offered to people living in England, Wales and Scotland. How do you apply for a crisis loan?
You can apply for a crisis loan either by telephone or in writing. If you are applying over the telephone the adviser will be able to tell whether you are successful while you are on the phone. However before the crisis loan can be awarded you will need to agree in writing about how you will repay the loan. You will only be sent your payment once you have agreed to the terms of how you will repay the loan.
What will I be charged on my crisis loan?
Crisis loans are interest free and so you will not be charged any costs for borrowing the funds. However it is important to remember that crisis loan does need to be repaid at a future date.

You can ask reviewing officer to look at your application again. For an application to be reviewed you must put it into writing even if the original application was by telephone.

There is no specific criteria in which a crisis loan can be applied for. You do not need to be receiving a benefit in order to receive a crisis loan. However you will need to be over 16 years old and not have the resources to meet you or your family’s needs.
